Code of Conduct for Security Staff
The Security Staff of SIAS play a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This Code of Conduct outlines the professional, ethical, and behavioural standards expected from all personnel assigned to security duties on campus.
1. General Conduct
- Security staff must be punctual, alert, and attentive while on duty.
- They must wear proper uniform and display their identification badge at all times during duty hours.
- They should be courteous, respectful, and professional in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
- Guard and protect college property and premises at all times.
- Monitor entry and exit points and maintain visitor registers diligently.
- Ensure that only authorized persons and vehicles enter the campus.
- Assist during emergencies, including medical issues, fire, or natural disasters.
- Patrol campus regularly and report any suspicious activity or security breaches.
- Ensure no student or staff member is subject to harassment or physical harm.
3. Discipline and Integrity
- Security personnel must maintain honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
- They must not engage in any form of bribery, favoritism, or misuse of authority.
- Consumption of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicants while on duty is strictly prohibited.
- Security staff must refrain from gossiping, arguing, or using abusive language.
4. Interactions with Students and Staff
- Treat all students and staff members fairly and without discrimination.
- Avoid unnecessary interference in student activities unless there is a security concern.
- Refrain from any form of physical contact unless required in self-defense or to prevent harm.
5. Reporting and Accountability
- Maintain logbooks, registers, and other documents as instructed.
- Report all incidents, accidents, or unusual activities to the Principal/Administrative Officer immediately.
- Cooperate fully with the college authorities during investigations or disciplinary actions.
6. Confidentiality
Do not disclose or discuss any internal matters, student issues, or administrative decisions with outsiders or unauthorized persons.
7. Compliance
Adhere to all college policies, including those related to safety, student discipline, and campus operations. Participate in training or orientation programs as and when organized by the institution.
Violation of Code
Any violation of this code may lead to disciplinary action, including suspension or termination from service, based on the nature and severity of the misconduct.
