Code of Conduct
I. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR TEACHERS
Faculty members are expected to uphold the dignity of the teaching profession and serve as role models for students through ethical conduct, professionalism, and dedication.
1. Professional Commitment
Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the institution.
Prepare well for lectures and stay updated in their respective disciplines.
Maintain academic integrity and promote critical, ethical thinking among students.
2. Classroom Conduct
Begin and end classes on time.
Create a respectful, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Avoid any form of discrimination or biased behaviour based on caste, religion, gender, or economic background.
3. Relationship with Students
Treat students with respect and fairness.
Avoid any form of harassment, favouritism, or exploitation.
Maintain confidentiality of students’ personal and academic matters.
4. Institutional Responsibilities
Participate in academic planning, committees, and institutional events.
Cooperate with the Principal and other authorities in the smooth functioning of the college.
Take part in evaluation, mentoring, and academic support services.
5. Research and Publications
Engage in quality research with academic honesty and proper citation.
Avoid plagiarism and unethical practices in research and publishing.
6. Use of Resources
Use institutional resources (laboratories, library, digital platforms) responsibly.
Ensure proper maintenance of departmental property and facilities.
7. General Behaviour
Dress appropriately and maintain decorum in the workplace.
Refrain from using mobile phones or engaging in non-academic activities during class hours.
Abstain from political or religious propaganda within the campus.
II. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
Students of SIBGA Institute of Advanced Studies are expected to be responsible, respectful, and disciplined members of the academic community.
1. Academic Integrity
Attend classes regularly and maintain the required attendance percentage.
Complete assignments, projects, and examinations honestly.
Avoid all forms of academic malpractice including cheating and plagiarism.
2. Discipline and Decorum
Follow college timings and be punctual to all academic and co-curricular sessions.
Maintain silence and decorum in classrooms, laboratories, library, and common areas.
Wear modest and decent clothing appropriate for the academic environment.
3. Respect and Behaviour
Respect teachers, non-teaching staff, and fellow students.
Refrain from ragging, bullying, harassment, or any form of disruptive behaviour.
Use polite and respectful language within the campus.
4. Use of Mobile Phones and Gadgets
Mobile phones must be switched off or kept silent during classes.
Unauthorized recording of classes, faculty, or fellow students is strictly prohibited.
5. Campus Property
Protect and preserve college property. Vandalism or misuse of resources will invite disciplinary action.
Keep the campus clean and eco-friendly; use waste bins and avoid littering.
6. Participation
Engage actively in academic and extracurricular activities.
Be part of various clubs, associations, and NSS as encouraged by the college.
7. Anti-Ragging
Ragging in any form is a criminal offence and strictly prohibited as per UGC regulations.
Students must sign an anti-ragging affidavit and report any incidents immediately.
III. DISCIPLINARY ACTION
Violation of the code of conduct by teachers or students will lead to warnings, suspension, or termination/expulsion based on the severity of the issue. A Disciplinary Committee constituted by the Principal will inquire into complaints and recommend suitable action.
IV. CONCLUSION
The Code of Conduct ensures a healthy, inclusive, and value-based academic culture at SIBGA Institute of Advanced Studies. All stakeholders are expected to internalize these values and contribute to the growth and reputation of the institution.
